Announces its 2017 Honorees

Honorees include the Associated Press Urban Affairs reporter, WURD 900AM President & General Manager, the Westside Weekly Publisher, and the Odunde Festival founder.

 

PHILADELPHIA, PA (September 6, 2017) The Philadelphia Association of Black Journalists (PABJ) will honor ten extraordinary journalism, communications and community standouts at its annual Awards and Scholarship Gala, Saturday October 21, 2017.

 

The awards for exemplary reporting, media management, and community activism will be presented by PABJ, the nation’s oldest association of journalists of color, during a gala ceremony at WHYY Studios, 150 N. Sixth Street, Philadelphia (between Race & Arch Streets).

 

The gala is from 6 to 10:30 p.m. The reception begins at 6. The award ceremony starts at 7:15 p.m. (Assignment editors may request the awards program order after October 19th)

 

Keynote speaker Kristen Welker, a Philadelphia native, NBC White House correspondent, and former NBC 10 reporter, will share her experiences covering the Obama and Trump administrations. Action News reporter, Christie Ileto and Quincy Harris, host of “The Q” on Fox 29, will co-host the awards gala.
